Plant Distribution Mapper

The Plant Distribution Mapper plots known locations of plants on maps, based on up-to-date specimen data from the State Herbarium collection. In the first instance this tool is limited to the Wattles (members of the genus Acacia).

As further records are processed, more groups and regions will be added. Incorporation of data from herbaria interstate and overseas and of additional data from the Biological Survey will enrich the distributional coverage.

Current Coverage

Map coverage provided at this stage is the whole of the state and the South East and includes the ability to plot the distribution in relation to major roads, towns, National Parks and environmental regions. Locations are provided to the nearest 10 minutes latitude and longitude.
