Phylum Rhodophyta – Class Florideophyceae – Order Corallinales – Family Corallinaceae – Subfamily Corallinoideae

Thallus usually pinnately branched. Intergenicula with (8–) 10–25 (–50) tiers of medullary cells each 50–90 µm long. Fusion cells thin (6–12 µm) and broad (90–300 µm), with carposporangial filaments from margins and/or upper surface; male conceptacles with a broad chamber (350–450 µm), low ceilings and long canal (200–500 µm). Tetrasporangia relatively small, many (>30) per conceptacle, with interspersed paraphyses, conceptacles usually without branches.
