Description:
Trunk to 6 m; crowns l-many, each a stiff hemisphere; leaves transversely narrow-rhombic to very depressed-cuneate in section, 5-12 (usually c. 8) mm wide, 1.5-3.5 (usually c. 2.5) mm thick, bluish-green, very glaucous.

Inflorescence 180-380 cm long; scape 40-200 (usually 80-120) cm long, 15-60 (usually 20-45) mm diam.; spike longer than the scape (usually 1.5-2 times as long), 65-300 (usually 150-250) cm long, 25-90 (usually 30-45) mm diam.; cluster-bracts obscure; packing-bracts subulate, glabrous; outer perianthsegments short-acute to acute, beaked, without a proboscis, glabrous except for a tuft of short hairs in the beak; inner segments recurved, with a proboscis, glabrous except for short hairs at the apex.

Fruits straight, 14-17 mm long, emerging 5-8 mm above the bracts; seeds 9-12 mm long, 5-6 mm wide.
