Synonymy: Festuca muralis Kunth, Syn. Pl. 1:128 (1822); V. broteri Boiss. & Reuter, Pugill. Pl. Nov. 128 (1852).
Common name: Wall rescue, silver grass.
Description:
Erect slender annual, to 60 cm high; leaf blades setaceous.
Panicle usually well exserted beyond the leaf sheaths, erect, narrow, 2-12 cm long; spikelets 3-6-flowered, distal florets smaller and sterile; first glume less than 2 mm long; the second about twice as long; lemmas 4-7 mm with an awn about twice as long.
