Common name: Smooth velleia, pee the bed.
Description:
Annual herb 9-45 cm high with a slender tap root; leaves forming a rosette, ascending, oblanceolate, attenuate into a short petiole, obtuse, 4-10 cm long, 0.8-2 cm wide, dentate to lyrate-pinnatifid, glabrous to subglabrous, green.
Peduncles erect to ascending, terete, 4-30 cm long, glabrous; bracteoles connate for 1-2 mm, ovate to lanceolate, dentate to deeply incised, to 2 cm long, glabrous or subglabrous; pedicels to 2.5 cm long, glabrous; sepals hardly connate, ovate, 4-6 mm long, the posterior one the largest, glabrous; corolla 12-14 mm long, yellow, pubescent outside, with a pocket or spur to 2.5 mm long; tube 2.5-3.5 mm long, villous inside; posterior lobes elliptic-oblong, 6-8 mm long; anterior lobes connate for 4-6.5 mm, 4-6 mm long, broadly winged; style c. 4 mm long; indusium depressed-ovate, c. 2 mm long, villous, with a curved orifice.
Capsule subglobular, 4-valved, c. 5 mm diam., finely pubescent, with a glabrous mucro; seeds orbicular, c. 4 mm diam., broadly winged.
