Description:
Leaf sheaths glabrous; spikelets 5-10-flowered; glumes as long as or nearly as long as the spikelets; lemmas neatly distichous-imbricate, the central nerve continuing as a short awn between the stiffly scarious lateral lobes; palea glabrous on the back.

Distribution:    W.Aust.; N.T. The more southern specimens in S.Aust., especially from Mount Lofty, have smaller fewer-flowered spikelets.

Flowering time: usually Aug. — Nov.
