Common name: Fairy grass, yakka grass.
Description:
Slender perennials, 20-40 cm high; leaf blades linear-lanceolate, minutely scabrous, flat, 3-10 cm long; panicle loose, compound, pyramidal, 8-12 cm long and equally broad at the base, the capillary branches spreading and twice divided, only the lowest branches whorled, the upper ones more or less scattered.
Spikelets dark; pedicels longer than the spikelets; glumes acute, unequal, the first under 1 mm long, the second under 2 mm long and equalling the lemma; palea splitting very early.
