Taxonomic notes: P. acutifolius Link ex Roemer & Schultes (1818) Syst. Veg. 3:513. This is indigenous to Europe and Asia, but was recorded by F. Muell. from the Murray River. H. I. Aston (1973) considered this to be likely to be a Vic. or N.S.W. locality. She described it as similar to P. ochreatus but distinguished by having an acute to acuminate leaf apex compared with the obtuse apex of P. ochreatus.
