Muscari comosum

Citation: Miller, Gdnrs' Dict. edn 8 (1768).

Synonymy: Hyacinthus comosus L., Sp. Pl. 318 (1753); Leopoldia comosa (L.)Parl., Giorn. Bot. Ital. 2, 2:160 (1847).

Common name: Tufted grape hyacinth.

Description:
Leaves 3-6, 5-50 cm long, channelled, 5-20 mm broad.

Fertile flowers 4-5 mm long, brownish, in a lax raceme 9-40 cm long, oblong-urceolate; lobes cream or greenish-white; neuter flowers violet or purplish, forming a terminal conspicuous head.

Distribution:  Cultivated and occasionally naturalised in S.Aust.: SL.

S.Aust.: SL.   Native to Europe, Asia and North Africa.

Conservation status: native

Flowering time: Sept. — Nov.
