Description:
Erect shrub, 0.5-2 m high, dioecious; stems glabrous to minutely papillose; leaves very shortly petiolate to almost sessile, blade ovate to broadly ovate, sometimes narrowly elliptic, 10-25 (rarely to 30) mm long, 6-18 mm wide, glabrous to minutely papillose, flat, acute and sometimes mucronulate; petiole 1-2 mm long, glabrous to minutely papillose; interfoliar membrane glabrous.
Flowers unisexual, in compact cymes, peduncles sometimes long; calyx 1.5-2 mm long, often ciliolate; corolla white, 2.9-3.7 mm long, tube 1.7-2.3 mm long, internally thickened at the top to form a rim, glabrous except for a dense ring of hairs on top of the rim, lobes glabrous.
Capsule 4-6 mm long, c. 3 mm wide.
