Description:
Glabrous to sparsely hirsute perennial with trailing or twining stems; leaves broadly ovate or lanceolate to broadly triangular, 1.5-8 x 1.5-7 cm, obtuse, emarginate, mucronate, base cordate.
Inflorescence axillary, cymose; peduncles filiform, wiry, 1.5-10 cm long, bearing 1-3 flowers; bracteoles more or less opposite, narrow-triangular, acute with a long recurved point, 2.5-4 mm long; pedicel thicker than the peduncle, 5-15 mm long; outer sepals thick, with a thin hyaline margin, ovate to ovate-lanceolate, acute to obtuse, mucronate, glabrous, with 3-5 prominent longitudinal nerves, 8-10 x 3.5-4.5 mm, at fruiting up to 6 mm broad; inner sepals as long as the outer but up to 10 mm broad at fruiting; corolla funnel-shaped, a pale rose-purple with a slightly darker throat, glabrous, 3-3.5 cm long, limb 3-3.8 cm diam.; stamens inserted 3.5-5 mm from the base of the corolla; filaments unequal, 8-14 mm long; ovary 2-celled, style 12-16 mm long, stigma 2-globular.
Capsule globular to ovoid-globular, more or less depressed, with a persistent style base, 8-11 mm high, 9.5-12 mm diam., splitting often tardily into 4 longitudinal valves; seeds densely pubescent, with longer hairs on outer ridges, 6.5-8 mm long.
