Common name: Slender violet-bush, slender violet.
Description:
Perennial herb to 60 cm tall; leaves alternate, the upper opposite or nearly so, linear to oblong, 5-90 mm long, 0.5-4 mm broad, margins recurved; stipules linear to triangular, to 1.5 mm long.
Inflorescence axillary, racemose, to 20 cm long; sepals lanceolate, acute, 2-3 mm long, green; anterior petal blue-mauve, 5-20 mm long, the lamina 7-14 mm broad; lateral petals of dissimilar pairs, blue-mauve, 2 outer lanceolate, acute, 2 inner broadly lanceolate, falcate, oblique; anthers almost sessile, locular appendages if present narrow-triangular, white or orange.
Capsule 3-6 mm long; seeds 3-6, punctulate, dark-brown or black.
