Description:
Low plants with few stems from a woody rootstock, pubescent with simple straight hairs; leaves alternate, linear to oblong-elliptic, apiculate, the margins recurved; stipules minute or absent.
Flowers in axillary clusters or very short racemes; calyx with the upper 2 lobes united in a broad usually notched truncate upper lip, the lower 3 teeth smaller, lanceolate, densely hairy; bracteoles and bracts small; petals blue to purplish, standard with a nearly orbicular notched lamina, wings and keel shorter; stamens united in a sheath open on the upper side; anthers alternately long and basifixed and short and versatile; ovary usually 2-ovulate.
Pod turgid, globular or obliquely ovoid, 8-15 mm long; seeds arillate. 12 species, all Australian.
