Description:
Perennial herb to 40 cm high, sometimes with a thickened rootstock; stems decumbent to ascending, terete, pubescent; basal leaves forming a rosette, more or less petiolate, oblanceolate, obtuse, 5-11 cm long, 1-1.5 cm wide, pubescent to hirsute and usually with minute glandular hairs, obtusely serrate-dentate to pinnatifid; cauline leaves hardly petiolate, oblanceolate to elliptic, obtuse to acute, 1.5-7 cm long, less deeply incised.

Flowers in terminal leafy racemes or subumbellate groups; bracts leaf-like but smaller: peduncles 1.5-5 cm long, pubescent, articulate immediately below the ovary: bracteoles absent; sepals linear-lanceolate, 2.5-3 mm long, acute, pubescent; corolla 10-15 mm long, yellow, pubescent outside and at the base inside, with a spur usually exceeding the ovary; wings subequal; auricles prominent; anthers c. 1 mm long; style 2-3 mm long, straight, with white or purplish hairs at the apex; indusium transversely oblong, c. 1 mm long, c. 1.5 mm wide, brown, glabrous or with some hairs below, with an almost straight orifice beset with white bristles; ovary pubescent; dissepiment about one-quarter as long as the ovary, with ovules in 2 rows.

capsule subglobular, 6-7 mm diam., pubescent with a glabrous apex; valves entire; seeds flat, orbicular, c. 6 mm diam., dark-brown to black, shiny, with a broad brown wing.
