Fumaria indica

Citation: Pugsley, J. Linn. Soc. (Bot.) 44:313 (1919).

Synonymy: F. vaillantii Lois. var. indica Hausskn., Flora 56:443 (1873).

Common name: Indian fumitory.

Description:
Herb with main branches 2-3 mm thick, usually much-branched, with the petioles of the cauline leaves absent.

Racemes longer than to about twice as long as the thread-like peduncle, with 15-25 flowers usually densely clustered; bracts 1.5-2 mm long, longer than or as long as the flowering and fruiting pedicels, with apex acuminate and often dentate; sepals c. 1 X 0.3-0.5 mm, dentate to laciniate, pink; petals (incl. spur) c. 5 mm long, pink or reddish-pink to purplish-black at the apex of all petals.

Fruit on short erect pedicels, c. 2.5 mm wide, spherical to slightly broader than long, keeled, often apiculate when young, at least slightly rough to irregularly granulate.

Distribution:  S.Aust.: FR, EA, SL.   N.S.W.   Native to central and south-western Asia.

Conservation status: naturalised
