Exocarpos syrticola

Synonymy: E. strictus R. Br. var. syrticola F. Muell. ex Miq., Nederl. Kruidk. Arch. 4:102 (1856); E. syrticolus is an incorrect form of the epithet.
Common name: Coast ballart.
Description:
Densely branched shrub or small tree 0.6-3.6 m high; branches rigid but fairly slender, more or less erect, round or flat-ribbed, pubescent between the ridges at first; leaves reduced to usually lanceolate scales 1-1.5 mm long, persisting on all but the oldest branches.
Rhachis pubescent; perianth 4-6-sect, c. 1 mm long, yellow-green, glabrous, 3-5 mm long, shiny, purple to black.
Fruiting pedicel subglobose, 3.5-7 mm diam., broader than the fruit when fresh, whitish or pale-pinkish.
