Euphorbia coghlanii

Description:
A small virgate shrub to 30-60 cm high (to 30 in S.Aust.), branches dichotomous, glaucous and sparsely hairy with short white hairs; leaves opposite, on distinct petioles c. 1 mm long, oblong to ovate, 10-20 x 4-8 mm, obtuse or apiculate, asymmetrical at the base, margins nearly entire or serrulate, with 3-5 veins starting from near the base, texture somewhat coriaceous, often bearing hairs on the veins similar to those on the branches; ray and raylet-leaves ovate, 1-5 mm long; stipules filiform, to 0.5 mm long, deciduous.

cyathia shortly pedunculate in rather loose irregular cymes, terminal on upper branchlets; involucre c. 1 mm long; gland appendages petal-like, orbicular, c. 0.5 mm broad, entire, white or with a slightly coloured rim.

Capsule 3-lobed, c. 2.25 mm broad, green to light-brown, smooth, glabrous; styles recurved, divided to the middle; seed ovate, 1.2-1.5 mm long, slightly compressed, mucronulate, smooth, pruinose or red-brown, sometimes whitish lines lengthwise marking the angles.
