Description:
Single-stemmed trees rarely up to 35 m high; bark smooth, blue-grey and shedding in strips to reveal an off-white layer, with a little flaky bark at the base or with rough bark extending on to the primary branches; cotyledons notched or reniform; juvenile leaves opposite, sessile and narrow-oblong to narrow-lanceolate for many pairs; adult leaves alternate, on petioles 10-25 mm long, lanceolate, sometimes undulate, glossy, 10-30 x 1-3.5 cm.

Flowers in umbels of 3-9; buds on pedicels 0-4 mm long, ellipsoid, smooth, 7-8 x 4-5 mm; operculum conical, about as long as the hypanthium; flowers white; anthers all fertile, obovate.

Fruits cylindrical to globose or obconical, with the broad rim usually raised or domed, 6-8 x 6-9 mm; valves broadly triangular, exserted; seeds blackish, irregular in shape, with shallow depressions, often with an almost fimbriate margin.
