Eucalyptus incrassata

Citation: Labill., Nov. Holl. Pl. Sp. 2:12 (1806).

Synonymy: Eucalyptus angulosa, Eucalyptus costata, Eucalyptus incrassata

Common name: Ridge-fruited reallee, yellow (or lerp or ribbed-fruit) mallee.

Description:
Multi- or single-stemmed trees to 5 m high; bark smooth, grey or grey-brown, shedding in strips to reveal a paler layer, with rough bark at the base; cotyledons notched or reniform; juvenile leaves opposite to alternate, petiolate, elliptic to ovate; adult leaves alternate, on petioles 10-20 mm long, lanceolate, glossy, thick, palish-green, 6-12 x 1.5-3 cm, veins usually obscure.

Flowers in umbels of 3-7 in the axils of the leaves; buds on pedicels 3-7 mm long, ellipsoid or narrowly obovoid to urceolate, faintly striate to ridged, 12-22 x 6-10 mm; operculum conical or rostrate, usually shorter than the often restricted hypanthium; flowers white or pink; anthers all fertile, oblong.

Fruits thick-walled, cylindrical to urceolate, faintly striate to strongly ribbed, with narrow rim and descending disk, 10-12 x 9-10 mm; valves triangular, with narrow included points sometimes close to the orifice; seeds dark-brown to black, rounded in outline, reticulate.
