Pilose annual herb 10-35 cm high; stems robust, erect, branched; basal rosette absent; leaves broadly oblong-cuneate, with up to 5 coarse acute teeth, 1-5 cm long, 3-12 mm wide, sessile with broad bases, decreasing in size up the stems; peduncles 1-3 cm long, with 2 or 3 minute leaves.
Capitula solitary or in loose groups of 2-4, c. 1.5 cm diam.; receptacle 5-9 mm diam.; involucral bracts broad-lanceolate, 3-4 mm long, pubescent; ligules 1.5-2 mm long, white to purple.
Achenes elliptic, c. 1 mm long, pale-brown, with prominently hispid marginal ridges; pappus bristles 6-10, 1-seriate, c. 2 mm long, barbellate, very shortly connate.
On creek edges and waterholes.
Flowering time: Jan. — July.
