Drosera macrantha

Citation: Endl., Enum. Pl. Hügel 6 (1837) subsp. planchonii (Hook. f. ex Planchon) N. Marchant, Fl. Aust. 8:383 (1982).

Synonymy: -D. planchonii Hook. f. ex Planchon, Annls Sci. nat. sér. 3, 9:294 (1848); D. menziesii R. Br. var. albiflora Benth., Fl. Aust. 2:468 (1864).

Common name: Climbing sundew.

Description:
Tuberous herb, vertical stolon 6-10 cm long; stem climbing, to 60 cm long, pilose in the upper part; leaves in alternate groups of 3; lamina orbicular, deeply concave, inverted, 4-10 mm diam., primary petiole 3-5 cm long, secondary petiole 10-15 mm long.

Inflorescence paniculate, many-flowered, terminal, pedicels 3-15 mm long; sepals broadly ovate, 3-8 mm long, densely pubescent, the apex deeply fringed petals obovate, 6-14 mm long, usually white, sometimes pink or red; styles 3, 2.5-3.5 mm long, dichotomously branched from the base.

Biology: D. macrantha subsp. macrantha is widespread in south-west W.Aust. It is distinguished by its usually longer stems and narrower shallowly fringed sepals.
