Derivation: Greek di, two; plateia, flat thing; alluding to the large flat bracts.

Description:
Glabrous or the bracts and calyx tomentose; haustorial attachments without epicortical runners; leaves flat, curvinerved.

Inflorescence axillary, capitate, consisting of 2 sessile opposite triads at the apex of a common peduncle; central bracts of the triads enlarged and foliaceous, oblong to ovate, enclosing the flowers and connate at the margins over them during development; lateral bracts small, narrow, deciduous; corolla choripetalous, 5-merous, regular; anthers basifixed, immobile, introrse, 4-locular; style articulate at the base.

Fruit ellipsoid.

Distribution:  3 species, endemic to Australia.
