Description:
Procumbent or low erect shrub, 0.2-1 x 1-3 m, with a ferruginous tomentum on young branches; petiole 3-5 mm long; lamina narrowly elliptic-oblong, 2-5 x 0.5-1 cm, dark-green, glabrous adaxially, ferruginous-tomentose on the lower surface.
Flowers 1 (rarely to 3), more or less erect on short axillary branchlets; peduncles 4-10 mm long; calyx shallowly to deeply cup-shaped with 4 linear lobes 3-6 mm long and 4 lanceolate intermediate lobes 0.2-2 mm long; corolla cylindrical to fusiform; petals 1.5-3 cm long, pink-red with yellow-green tips; anthers yellow-brown, prominent in 2 whorls exserted about half and two-thirds of the corolla length; ovary tomentose, white or rufous.
fruit 5-10 mm high; seeds c. 4 x 2 mm, dull-brown or black; corolla deciduous in fruit.

Taxonomic notes:
Hybridisation is extensive and complex on western Kangaroo Island and involves C. aemula, C. pulchella and "C. reflexa". A distinct taxon. Material from the Grampians Ranges, Vic. is not referrable to C. decumbens as has previously been done but is a form of C. reflexa.
