Description:
Procumbent to erect shrub 0.5-1 x 0.5-1.5 m; stem scabridulous; petiole 0.5-1.5 mm; lamina broadly elliptic, 0.5-1.5 x 0.5-1.5 cm, densely tomentose to velvety.
Flowers solitary or in clusters of 2-5 on short axillary branches; peduncle 0.5-2 mm long; bracteoles 1-3 mm long, caducous; calyx shortly cup-shaped, 2-4 mm high, more or less 4-denticulate and constricting between the carpels; corolla erect; petals free, 10-15 mm long, white, cream or pink, more or less deciduous in fruits; filaments broadened at the base; anthers enclosed or just exserted, yellow-brown; ovary tomentose to velvety.
Fruit green, 5-7 mm high, more or less truncate, segments ridged, often splitting the calyx; seeds 3-4 x 1-2 mm, chocolate-brown to mottled grey-brown.

Hybridisation occurs in Vic. populations but has not been recorded in S.Aust. This variety is distinctive in habit, morphology and chemical characters.
