Cerastium diffusum

Citation: Pers., Syn. Pl. 1:520 (1805).

Synonymy: C. tetrandum Curtis, Fl. Lond. 2: t. 93 (1791).

Common name: None

Description:
Annual to c. 30 cm high; stem with glandular and usually some eglandular hairs; leaves 5-20 mm long, ovate-oblanceolate, hairy.

Pedicels longer than the sepals; bracts usually herbaceous; sepals 4-9 mm long, ovate to lanceolate, acuminate, with scarious margins at the apex, with glandular and some eglandular hairs not exceeding the apex; petals shorter than the sepals, 2-fid; stamens and styles 4 or 5.

Capsule 5-10 mm long, seeds 0.4-0.7 mm; chestnut-brown, tuberculate.

Distribution:  Only twice recorded in S.Aust. [in 1986].

S.Aust.: YP, SL, KI, SE.   Vic.   Native to Europe.

Conservation status: naturalised

Flowering time: Sept. — Oct.
