Description:
Tufted perennial to 40 cm tall, with branched glaucous culms; leaf blades flat, scabrous above, becoming curly when old.
Inflorescence narrow-cylindrical, to c. 15 x c. 3 cm; glumes inverse, l-nerved, scabrous, the lower c. 10 mm long, acuminate, the upper c. 7 mm long, aristulate; lemma c. 6.5 mm long (including the callus of c. 1 mm), involute, muricate in the furrow, smooth, with purplish blotches, with a pseudo-articulation at the apex; awns equal, c. 21 mm long; grain c. 4 mm long, with a hilum c. 2.5 mm long.
