Description:
Slender tufted perennial 22-70 cm tall, forming compact tufts; leaf blades conduplicate and filiform, scabrous on the upper surface, 7-15 cm long.
Inflorescence spike-like and rather loose, 8-15 x 1-2 cm; glumes slightly unequal, 1-nerved, sparsely scaberulous on the keel or smooth, the lower 5-7.5 mm long, acute, the upper 6-8 mm long, muticous; lemma 5.8-7 mm long, convolute, finely scabrous in longitudinal series towards the apex; awns subequal, 10-16 mm long, flattened; grain 4.5-8 mm long, narrowed upwards, with a hilum c. 2.8 mm long.
