Description:
Tufted perennial to 65 cm tall; leaf blades flat and flexuous, to 10 cm x 3 mm.
Inflorescence loosely contracted, 8-24 x 0.2-0.3 cm; glumes unequal, smooth, aristulate, the lower c. 10 mm long, 1-3-nerved, with a scabrous keel, the upper c. 13 mm long, 1-nerved; lemma 9-10 mm long (including the callus of c. 1 mm long), convolute, pallid with mauve patches; awns 14-17 mm long, slender.
