Amaranthus powellii

Description:
Erect glabrous or sparsely pubescent annual to 1 m high; leaves elliptic to ovate, acute, 3-12 cm long (incl. petiole), green.
Flowers in erect cylindrical bristly spikes in leaf axils and the terminal one 6-10 mm thick and unbranched or with a few short branches towards the base, greenish; bracts and bracteoles ovate, 2-3 times the length of the perianth; perianth-segments 5, ovate, c. 3 mm long; stamens usually 3; style branches recurved.
Fruit rugulose, shorter than the perianth, circumsciss.
