Description:
Stems usually 25-40 cm high, lacking stolons; leaves narrowly obovate to oblanceolate, with 4 or more pairs of leaflets, usually 8-15 cm long (including the petiole), glabrous above, sparsely appressed-pilose or almost glabrous below.
Flowers in interrupted spikes; sepals 4-6, 1-3 mm long; stamens dark-purple, 1-5 mm long.
Fruits ovoid, glabrous or spreading-pilose; spines unequal, glabrous or spreading-pilose on the lower quarter to three-quarters, the longer 2-5 mm long, the shorter 0.5-2 mm long.
