Common name: Naked bluebell.

Description:
Perennial herbs with a fleshy rootstock and spreading rhizomes, glabrous; aerial stems 10-60 cm long, seldom branched; leaves opposite, becoming alternate up the stem, 5-50 mm long, 1-3.5 mm wide, linear, margins flat.

Flowers solitary on long stalks; receptacle 2.5-4 mm long, obconical or elongated-obeonical; sepals 5, 2-6 mm long, narrowly triangular, acute; corolla blue, campanulate; tube 3-6 mm long, funnel-shaped; lobes 5, 7-16 mm long, c. 3 times as long as the tube, narrowly elliptical; stamens 5; filaments c. 2 mm long, rhombic with protuberant shoulders; anthers c. 4 mm long; ovary 3-celled; style 6-10.5 mm long, 3-fid, uncontracted, with 2 glands below each stigmatic cleft.

Capsule 5-9 mm long, obconical or elongated-obconical.

Distribution:  An uncommon species found in open sites in a variety of vegetation types.
