Description:
Annual, rarely persisting into a second year, 10-50 cm high; stems usually several, erect, rarely branched, terete; basal leaves spathulate, 1-5 cm long, soon withering; cauline leaves oblanceolate, narrowed at the base, subacute, 0.8-5 cm long, 2-7 mm wide, silvery with woolly or cobwebby hairs on both surfaces.
Capitula in several globose clusters of 12-40; bract laminae obovate, obtuse, c. 0.6 mm long, white; claws 1-1.5 mm long, purplish, widely spreading in fruit; female florets 20-30; bisexual florets few; corollas reddish at the apex.
Achenes c. 0.4 mm long, cylindrical, brownish; pappus bristles c. 1.5 mm long, subplumose above, separately deciduous.

On cleared and disturbed ground, often in moist depressions or near water.
S.Aust.: MU, SL, KI, SE. W.Aust.; N.S.W.; Vic.; Tas. Native to the Cape Province.
