Description:
Annual herb with vestiture of simple rigid non-glandular hairs; stems terete; leaves basal and cauline, alternate, pinnately divided or toothed, flat, the cauline ones amplexicaul.
Capitula long-pedunculate, solitary or few in a loosely branched terminal cymose intlorescence, homogamous; involucre urceolate, uniseriate; bracts 8, lanceolate, connate at the base, equal, herbaceous with hyaline margins, valvate, remaining suberect in fruit; receptacle convex, pitted, setulose; florets all bisexual, fertile, ligulate; ligules linear, 5-toothed, yellow; corolla tube pubescent above; anthers sagittate; style branches linear-subulate, papillose.
Achenes curved, compressed, muricate, with a massive hollow beak swollen at the base; pappus caducous, uniseriate, of plumose bristles connate at the base.
