Description:
Annual; several culms erect, 20-50 cm high; leaf sheaths inflated, blades narrow, short.
Spike bristly, 2-5 cm long; glumes subulate, tapering into an awn 1-2.5 cm long; lemmas lanceolate, c. 6 mm long, 3-nerved, scabrous, their flat awns 5-10 cm long.
