Citation: Kew Gawler ex Sprengel, Syst. Veg. 2:57 (1825) subsp. lutea.

Synonymy: Amaryllis lutea L., Sp. Pl. 292 (1753). , Sternbergia lutea

Common name: Autumn crocus, yellow star-flower.

Description:
Bulb 2-3 cm diam.; leaves 4-12 cm long, 5-18 mm broad; scape 4-10 cm high; spathe 1, 1.8-3 cm long.

Flowers solitary; perianth-segments 3-5 cm long, 7-15 mm broad, yellow; tube usually 5-8 mm long.

Fruit subglobose, 8-10 mm diam.

Distribution:  S.Aust.: SL.   Native to the Mediterranean east to Iran.

Conservation status: naturalised
