Common name: Prickly starwort.

Description:
Perennial herbs; stems to c. 55 cm long, ascending, branched, usually clothed with curly hairs; leaves linear-lanceolate, sessile, rigid, pungent-pointed, complicate, 5-14 mm long, spreading, often clustered.

Peduncles solitary, axillary, 1-4 cm long; sepals rigid, pungent-pointed, 3-nerved, 5-8 mm long; petals white or pink, about as long as the sepals, 2-fid; stamens usually 8, sometimes 6; styles 3 rarely 4.

Capsule 3- or 4-valved; seeds c. 8, suborbicular, brown, c. 1.5 mm diam.
