Common name: Scorzonera.
Description:
Biennial 10-45 cm high, dull-green to glaucous; basal leaves linear and entire or pinnatisect with few remote filiform to linearlanceolate lobes, 3-18 cm long, subglabrous to pubescent; stems erect, sparsely branched, striate, green; cauline leaves linear, entire, acute, 3-10 cm long.
Peduncles to 18 cm long, usually leafless, subglabrous; involucre 1-2 cm long at flowering, sparsely appressed-puberulent; inner bracts accrescent, to 3 cm long in fruit; ligules slightly exceeding the involucre, pale-yellow.
Achenes narrowly cylindrical, 6-7 mm long, on a fusiform to ellipsoid stipes 4-6 mm long, c. 10-ribbed, greyish, glabrous; pappus 8-12 mm long, cream.
