Rumex pulcher

Citation: L., Sp. Pl. 336 (1753).

Synonymy: Not Applicable

Common name: Fiddle dock, red dock.

Description:
Stem erect to c. 60 cm high, with stiff spreading branches; radical leaves puberulent, 3-13 x 1-3 cm, oblong-cordate, often contracted in the centre.

Clusters 6-12-flowered, distant, in racemes leafy towards the base only; valves ovate-triangular, c. 5 mm long, all bearing an oblong tubercle or 2 with undeveloped tubercles, reticulate, bordered on each side by 3-5 rarely more rigid teeth.

Flowering time: seeds c. 1.5 mm long, c. 1 mm wide, very light — coloured.
