Description:
Small prostrate to erect shrub, to 0.5 rarely 1.6 m high; branches moderately to densely hairy with hairs 0.09-0.5 mm long, very sparsely to moderately glandular; leaves sparsely to densely hairy, occasionally glabrous, sparsely to densely glandular; petiole absent or to 1.5 rarely 3 mm long; lamina oval (rarely suborbicular) to oblong-ovate, 1-13 mm long, 0.5-6 mm wide; base subattenuate to rounded; margin entire, recurved; apex obtuse to rounded; venation indistinct.

Pedicel 0.8-5 rarely to 13 mm long, terete, green or maroon, glabrous or hairy; bracteoles inserted near the base of the calyx, narrowly obovate to oblong, 1.1-5.3 but usually 2-4 mm long, 0.3-1 but usually 0.5-0.8 mm wide; calyx 4.3-12 mm long, maroon or green; outer surface glabrous, or with a few scattered hairs to densely hairy, sparsely to densely glandular; inner surface glabrous; tube 3-7 mm long; lobes broadly triangular, 1.5-4.5 rarely to 5 mm long, 4-6 mm wide; corolla 15-22 mm long, pink to mid-red, mid (metallic) blue-green, occasionally yellow, inner surface paler than the outer surface; outer surface glabrous at the base, sparsely to densely hairy distally; inner surface glabrous; tube 9-17 mm long; lower median lobe oblong-triangular to obovate, 3-4 mm long, 3-4 mm wide, more or less recurved to reflexed; lateral lobes ovate to triangular, often narrowly so, sometimes obovate, 1-4.5 mm long, 1-4 mm wide; adaxial median lobe-pair broadly triangular, 5-6.5 mm long 5-7 mm wide, slightly incurved basally, often recurved distally; stamens inserted c. 8.5-9 mm from the base of the corolla; filaments c. 5.5-9 mm long, with a few glandular trichomes; anthers 1-2 mm long, connective extended to form 1 or 2 short basal appendages 0.4-1.4 rarely to only 0.1 mm long, appendage rarely absent; pistil 20-24 mm long; ovary 0.5-0.8 mm long; style 19-23 mm long; stigma lobes to 0.5 mm long.

Mericarps 1.5-1.7 mm long.
