Citation: C. Presl, Tent. Pter. 83 (1836).

Synonymy: Aspidium proliferum R. Br., Prod. Fl. Nov. Holl. 149 (1810); P. aculeatum sensu J. Black, Fl. S. Aust. 38 (1943), non (L.) Schott.

Common name: Mother shield-fern.

Description:
Fronds narrow, linear-triangular, to 1 m long; stipe densely clad with dark-brown scales with a pale border; lamina deep-green, very coriaceous; sori numerous, covered with a peltate indusium.
