Description:
Tufted perennial with erect wiry culms to 50 cm high; leaf blades mainly glabrous, often c. 1 up to 3.5 mm broad, filiform or narrow.
Panicle to 13 cm long, loosely spike-like, exserted; spikelets c. 1.5 mm long, glabrous, sometimes subtended by a bristle; first glume about half as long as the spikelet, subacute, c. 5-nerved; second glume often 5-nerved; second (fertile) lemma as long as the spikelet, rugose especially below.
