Common name: Golden pallenis.
Description:
Herb 20-50 cm high; stems erect, hirsute, sparsely branched in the upper portion, often slightly woody near the base; basal leaves oblanceolate to oblong, narrowed at the base, subacute, 7-10 cm long, 1-2 cm wide, hirsute, usually with a denticulate margin; cauline leaves oblong, subamplexicaul, acute, 2-7 cm long, 3-10 mm wide, entire, hirsute, the upper ones with pungent apical points.
Outer 7-10 involucral bracts spreading, lanceolate, to 3 cm long, rigid, densely hirsute, 3-veined, with pungent apical spines c. 1.5 mm long; inner bracts lanceolate to oblong, 6-10 mm long; ligules narrowly cuneate, 4-7 mm long, deeply 3-toothed at the apex, deep-yellow; disk 1-1.5 cm diam., paler yellow.
Achenes 2-2.5 mm long, dark-brown, sparsely appressed-pubescent; pappus scales numerous, pointed, to 0.5 mm long, scarious, white.
