Description:
Generally low and bushy, sometimes developing a trunk; joints cylindrical, tuberculate, readily detached, short or up to 15 cm long; spines reddish at first, then white, sheathed, 6-10, to 5 cm long; leaves mostly deciduous.
Flowers yellow, c. 3 cm long.
Fruits green to yellowish-green, tuberculate, c. 3 cm long.
