Common name: Broad-leaved stinkweed.

Description:
Perennial subshrubs, monoecious, with decumbent branches up to 20 cm long, arising at different points from an underground rhizome, glabrous to pubescent; leaves with petioles 1-3 mm long; blade ovate to lanceolate, 7-18 x 3-10 mm, acute rarely obtuse, glabrous or with scattered hairs on the upper surface, along the recurred margin and the main vein below; stipules with a broadly triangular lobe and 1 or 2 gland-tipped points on either side.

Inflorescence of 10-20 flowers basally fused into a spherical head on a peduncle 2-10 mm long (shorter than the subtending leaves) and with apparently dichotomous branching from the same node; calyx lobes triangular, with a few marginal cilia.

Fruit with 2 or 3 star-shaped cavities after fruiting; seeds coffee-bean-shaped, smooth to scarcely wrinkled on the inner surface, a pale greyish-brown.

Distribution:  S.Aust.: MU, SL, SE.   Vic.; Tas.

Conservation status: native

Flowering time: Sept. — Nov.
