Description:
Annual, glandular-pubescent, with alternate pinnate- to bipinnate-dissected leaves.
Inflorescence dense cymose heads with sessile flowers and many spinescent bracts; sepals 5, connate, with erect spinescent lobes, persistent; petals 5, connate to form a slender funnel-shaped tube with short spreading rounded lobes; stamens inserted at about the middle of the corolla tube; ovary 3-celled, abruptly constricted into a slender style with a 3-lobed stigma.
Capsule with numerous fine seeds.
