Description:
Erect or procumbent annual herb 2-4 cm tall; leaves all of one type, alternate, linear, 1.2-3.5 mm long, flattened to terete, entire, lowermost very rarely 3-fid.
Plants monoecious, flowers unisexual, solitary in the axils; bracteoles straw-coloured, linear, 0.2-0.3 mm long; male flowers 4-merous, sessile; sepals 0; petals 4, red, 0.4-0.5 mm long, weakly hooded; stamens 2, anthers ovoid; styles 0; ovary vestigial; female flowers 4-merous, sessile; sepals, petals and stamens 0; styles 4, sessile; stigmas white, shortly fimbriate; ovary globular, 0.4-0.8 mm long, 4-locular.
Fruits yellow-brown to reddish, globular; mericarps ovoid, 0.6-1 mm long, widest at the base, apex oblique, dorsal surface smooth to minutely granular.
