Minuria

Citation: DC., Prod. 5:298 (1836).

Derivation: Greek minyros, small, thin, weak; probably referring to the leaves of M. leptophylla.

Synonymy: Minuriella Tare, Trans. R. Soc. S. Aust. 23:288 (1899). (N. S. Lander & R. Barry (1980) Nuytsia 3:221-237).

Description:
Annual or perennial herbs or undershrubs; vestiture non-glandular, pubescent to tomentose or glabrous; leaves cauline, usually alternate, sessile, linear to ovate or oblanceolate.

Capitula terminal, pedunculate, heterogamous; involucres campanulate, becoming spreading; bracts linear to lanceolate, herbaceous with scarious margins, imbricate in 3 or 4 series; receptacle naked, pitted, flat to convex; ray florets female, all fertile, numerous in 2-several series, white to blue to pink.

Ray achenes flattened, ribbed, often pubescent, with a pappus of free barbellate bristles; disk florets 5-merous, bisexual, sterile, yellow; anthers obtuse at the base, with acute apical appendages; style branches pubescent, subulate to lanceolate; disk achenes abortive, glabrous, with a pappus of long free barbellate bristles and shorter bristles often connate into scales or a cup.

Distribution:  9 species, endemic to Australia. Minurias.
