Description:
Annual herbs with non-glandular tomentum; leaves cauline, alternate, sessile, entire.
Inflorescence cymose-branched with small terminal clusters of capitula each overtopped by a branch arising immediately below; capitula minute, sessile, heterogamous; involucres conical, 3-seriate, widely spreading in fruit; bracts herbaceous to scarious, unequal, never acuminate-awned; receptacle minute, naked; outer florets 1-3-seriate, female, tubular; corolla filiform; style branches subulate; innermost florets bisexual, fertile, tubular; corolla narrowly cylindric; anthers tailed at the base with acute terminal appendages; style branches truncate.
Achenes slightly flattened, the outermost series enclosed by the subtending bracts and falling with them; pappus of bristles, absent from the outermost series of female florets.
