Description:
Annual herbs with a tap root, rarely taller than 20 cm and usually with several branches from the base, glabrous; leaves broadly obovate to rhombic-obovate with a cuneate base and few often rounded teeth at the base of the plant becoming oblanceolate to linear-elliptic, with coarse distant serrations, lobes or rarely entire on the stems, 8-15 x 3-12 mm, usually obtuse, glabrous.

Inflorescence loosely cymose from leaf-like bracts, with pedicels elongating after flowering to 10 cm long; sepals shortly connate, the lobes oblong-triangular, 1.5-3 mm long, acute, glabrous; corolla 11-14 mm long along the lower lip, the tube paler blue than the lobes and split along the upper side, the upper 2 lobes recurved and glabrous, the lower median lobe oblanceolate, blue with a yellow spot in front of the throat and longer than the similar 2 lateral lobes; anther-column with a dense ring of hairs around the apical opening.

Fruit obovoid, 5-8 mm long; seeds angular-ovoid, c. 0.2 mm long, smooth.
