Description:
Slender shrub, 30-60 cm high; stems brown; leaves erect to spreading, ovate, 3.6-17 mm long, 1.1-6 mm wide, apex almost obtuse, lacking a tip, base acute to obtuse, rarely cordate, margin ciliate, lamina thin, flat to concave, the upper surface with sunken veins, glabrous, the lower surface striate, usually hispid, sessile or on a petiole to 1 mm.

Flowers white, erect, in 4-10 mm long spikes, solitary in the upper axils and densely clustered when terminal, with 4-12 flowers per spike; bracts 1-1.8 x 0.8-1.2 mm, obtuse; bracteoles 1.5-2.2 x 0.8-1.35 mm, acute to obtuse, the midrib thickened and pilose; sepals often triangular, 2.2-3.3 x 0.5-1.3 mm, acute, with surfaces and margins velvety near the apex; corolla tube cylindrical, 1.3-1.75 mm long, glabrous internally except for deflexed lobe hairs, lobes 1.7-2.5 x 0.5-0.65 mm, acute, externally sparsely hairy, internally densely bearded; anthers 1.3-1.95 mm long, sterile tip bent, 0.3-0.6 mm long; ovary 0.35-0.6 x 0.35-0.55 mm, 2-celled; style 0.2-0.4 mm long, not exserted; the lower half of the gynoecium usually distinctly darker in colour; nectary continuous, 0.15-0.25 mm high, with the upper margin lobed.

Fruit oblong, shorter than the calyx, 1.7-1.8 x 1.05-1.3 mm, apex rounded to flat, surface smooth.

Distribution:  Occurs in open forest, mallee scrub and heathland or on rocks and mud near swamp margins.
